The Details

So, how does this work?

I specialize in Portrait and Wedding Photography. Since sessions vary drastically from a newborn to a senior to a wedding, I have created online magazines for you to browse through for each session type. These online magazines include details, inspiration, pricing and other important information. Fill out the contact page or email me with the type of session you are interested in and I will send a link to your specific magazine. EMAIL:

How Much Will This Cost? Ahhhh…the most commonly asked question! Session fees range from $95 for an add-on maternity session or creative head shot to $275 for a senior girl with professional hair and makeup. This session fee includes the photographer’s time and talent, the initial portrait design consultation, use of props, enhancing of images into art (around 60 images in color and B&W) and the in-person ordering session. The session fee does not include any prints, products,or digital files. Weddings collections start at $2550 and go up from there based on the amount of coverage and products included in the collection you choose.

From there, portrait clients spend an average of $800-$2000 depending on their budget. For a lot of us, custom photography is a luxury.  If that isn’t quite in your budget this year, I get it! Let’s talk payment plans. I am a boutique photography studio, which means I take a limited amount of sessions every week (2-4) and spend a lot of time working with each client before and after the session to ensure that they have the best experience possible.  My goal isn’t to get you in and out as quick as possible. Sorry, that’s just not my jam. My goal is to help you get the most out of your time and investment. If that means spending a little extra time with each client, I’m all in. I have invested a lot of time and money on formal education, certification and entering print competitions. I am going to put that investment forth for each and every client that walks through my door and will continue to do so as long as I am in this business.

Location. For families and kids, most of the magic happens on location. If there is a certain spot you have in mind, awesome. If not, don’t worry…I’ve got lots of great spots stashed in my pocket. For seniors and creative head shots, a mixture of studio and on-location is where it’s at. We’ll likely start in the studio and then head outdoors. Newborn sessions are held either in-studio (for the more posed look) or in your home for more of a “lifestyle” type of session.

Digital Files. Can I just buy the disc from you? While we do believe in digital files, we believe in them as backups to the images and art we create. My art is not complete until it is printed on your walls or in your hands. Its so important to us that our clients have beautiful heirloom quality products to look at when they are having a bad day and want to pull their hair out. Or hide in the bathroom and eat chocolate. Although, I will forever be a fan of hiding in the bathroom to eat chocolate in peace. (can I get an amen?!) But when you have had the day from *you know where* I want you to walk into your home, see the images on your walls and remember why you do this crazy thing called Life.

I believe that as professional photographers, we should showcase our expertise instead of tossing over a disc of digital images. If we sell high resolution digital files only, we know that people often times have great intentions but just don’t get their images printed. They also don’t have the programs to color correct or manage exposure and get the prints that are to the quality that reflects our brand. By doing that, we’re doing our clients a disservice. We only let things go out of Amy Winter Photography that we know are perfect. We might get something back from our lab, look at it and say, “you know, it can be better,” so my team and I will redo it as many times as it takes until it’s perfect.

In-Person Ordering Session. It is just as it sounds…in person 🙂 About 2-3 weeks after your session you’ll come to the studio where you’ll see a slideshow of your images. Its a lot of fun and is the highlight of your experience with us!  During this time we will be making final selections on images so make sure all decision makers are present. Keep babies and children at home with a babysitter. Think of this as  your chance for a date night! Allow for about 1 hour for your ordering session. For weddings, you’ll come in to select your images for your wall series, book or prints that are included in your wedding collection.

Out-of-Town Clients. For those clients that live out of town… No, you do not have to come back into the studio to view your images once they are complete. Instead, we will set up a “Go-To” meeting for you to remotely access my computer and we will view your images together that way. It’s the same as the in-person ordering session but the only difference is I don’t get the see your beautiful faces. All decisions and payments will still be made during this time.

Online Galleries. Can’t I just put the gallery online? Ummm…no. I did that for awhile and it didn’t do anyone any favors. It left people confused and unsure of what to do with their images.  In the end, people would tell me that, after a year, their images were still suffocating inside of a desk drawer.

Ordering Website. After your in-person ordering session – once your art work has been created, either as beautiful art for your walls or as an heirloom quality book – all purchased images will be loaded to a custom ordering website where you can create additional prints. Grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles can also gain access to this site to view your images and order prints for themselves. Everything ships directly to you from professional labs that have the equipment needed to properly read the color data that I have embedded into your files. This ensures an accurate print every time.

Refunds. Due to the custom nature of my work, all fees are non-refundable. Prices are subject to change without notice but you are locked into the current pricing once your session is booked.

Rescheduling. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy for session and in-person ordering session reschedules. Anything under 24 hours will be subject to a $100 rescheduling fee. I know that life gets busy, things happen, and kids get sick. Try to give me as much notice as possible. By the time your session comes around, a lot of work has already been done. I have have already booked an assistant if needed, hired hair and makeup for senior girls, and often times hired babysitters to take care of my own children.

Bad Weather. It happens. If we have an outside shoot scheduled, I’ll be keeping an eye on the weather closely the day of the session (let’s be honest, probably a few days before t00). We’ll decide together if we need to reschedule. There are no fees to reschedule due to bad weather.
